Features in Action is an online series of product demonstrations available from www.corel.com Product demonstrations pertain to Corel's latest products, Corel WordPerfect® Office 2000, CorelDRAW® 9, Corel VENTURA 8 and Corel PHOTO-PAINT® 9 and can be quite helpful, and can serve as a reference for you and your customers. A Scenario Training series has recently been added to provide practical examples of how Corel products can be used for a variety of tasks. New demonstrations are frequently added to this site so be sure to check back often.
Corel recently released a version of the Corel Service
Bureau Profiler for the Macintosh as a free download. It can be found,
along with the Windows version, from the following web site soon.
http://www.corel.com/partners_developers/casb/serviceb/PerfectImage/profiles.htm
This new and improved application was first introduced in the July
1999 issue of our Bureau Newsletter, where CASB members were
encouraged to generate profiles for their customers to use and then
e-mail them to us for distribution on Corel's web site. Now with a MAC
version of this service bureau profiler being available, the process of
profile creation has never been easier or more convenient.
This Issue...The Boss Effect in Corel PHOTO-PAINT®
9 and spot color blends with custom screen values in CorelDRAW® 9
Problem: When choosing Mesa or Flat Drop off presets using The
Boss effect in Corel PHOTO-PAINT® 9, the results are not the same as in
Corel PHOTO-PAINT® 8.
Explanation: Some significant changes were made to the core functionality of this effect between version 8 and 9, and as a result the same settings will differ in results when compared with the results of previous versions. Nonetheless, with some tweaking of values, similar results can be achieved. Corel is investigating the possibility of updating the presets to compensate for these differences in functionality.
Problem: When creating a blend between two different spot color objects in CorelDRAW® 9 and assigning the same Postscript Options to each, the PS options are not maintained for the intermediate blend objects. Ie. Assigning a screen of 150lpi and a diamond half-tone type to each parent object in the blend will result in only the two parent objects being affected and not intermediate objects.
Explanation: This issue is currently under investigation by Corel Product Development and should be addressed in a future update or release.
